Battle field of Badar

Summary – Fasting.. expect to be hungry and thirsty

A very good day to all of you… The sun is .. well not shining, it’s about 1 am in the morning. Tomorrow we will be performing the 8th day of fasting.. so like my friends Yanz asked the other day in the shoutbox, “Siapa tak puasa, angkat kaki”. I’m still not sure whether she meant to raise up a leg or to “cabut” 🙂

I don’t know about you, but every year, I see more people not fasting, and they are not embarassed about it. When asked, they just say that they feel weak if they fast.

That seriously puzzled me, “what do they expect?” We change our lifestyle, of course there will be some change in the way our body react. The first few days are always the hardest. Then our super adaptive body will not only be as normal, it will be better in term of health.

The first war in Islam, which is “Perang Badar” happened on the 17th of Ramadhan. 313 Muslim warriors were fighting about 1000 Quraisy warriors and they won. If muslims can actually performed the fasting while at a war (a fight between life and death), why we cannot fast when we are just doing our light job. We were even get paid for that. Did the muslim in “Perang Badar” get paid?

Most of the time, we even used this fasting month as an excuse to get lighter job. I know my foremen are.. Luckily the indian foremen are very understanding and offer to do heavier job. It’s very embarassing to me, that when they are actually not fasting, but demand the lighter work.

What I’m saying is, we are fasting.. expect to experience some hardship, some hunger and thirst. Don’t whine about being hungry.. That’s just wrong.

Knowing this, I like to expand the idea to all things in life. When we started to work.. we need to expect that we are going to actually do some work. Don’t be like my foreman… Some of them, when asked to do certain work, they insist that this job must be done by another foreman. This is not supposed to happen. we were hired to work, and so we must work. Period.. By the way, off topic, the foreman finally give in and do the repair I asked him to do.

Another example, is when studying.. We must not whine on the need to study. We are student, and we must expect that they will be a lot of studying involved. So.. all we need to do is to study. Yes, sometimes the work overloads, that we can whine. but not about the need to study.

So when we are fasting… please expect to suffer some hunger, thirst and maybe fatigue. Please also expect we are going to be tested, people inviting us to “mengumpat” maybe, or tv shows showing all those sexy girls. It is when we rise beyond this challenge that Ramadhan will bring out the best in us

Any other similar examples happening in your life, please share ya 🙂

————–Personal Note————-
The day is a bit hot now.. I have to admit that sometimes I have this thought in my head to break the fast. What I do, everytime that idea comes, is to think about how Rasulullah, tied rocks to his stomach just to ease the hunger. Immediately feel ashamed of having the thought. How about you? How do you overcome those urge?

I agree with u Banji..A lot of muslim nowdays mmg ramai yg tak menunaikan ibadah puasa..Feel sad abt it(pasal 2 gak i reject ramai guys..Agagaga)..

Ape yg kekadang memalukan..Saudara baru kita lagi kuat azam tok berpuasa compare ngan yg mmg di lahirkan Islam..How sad is that?? Patut la my mum asyik ckp nak cari laki..cari mcm ayah…Agagagaga.. My dad converted 2 muslim since 1975 and alhamdulillah..takat ni tak pernah 1 ari tgl puasa..Amin..

Merungut..i tiap2 ari pun merungut..Agagagaga…it’s ok la but jgn la nak merungut spjg hari.. Btl ckp Banji, tanggungjawab kita msti gak di selesaikan..no matter what happen..

Cerita pasal bulan puasa ni..teringat zaman primary school dedulu..cecuri minum air tangki.. Agagagaga..masa 2 dah tak pikir bersih ke..kotor ke..asal dahaga ilang..How funny is that??Ehehehe…syhhh…jgn bgtau org..Agagagaga…

break the fast? heh! the way i overcome the urge, i keep on making myself busy.. tak kisah la buat keje pape pon.. nti sure tak terpikir nak bukak pose. leka with the work..:)

bout the *we must not whine on the need to study* tu kan, well.. im not whining bout that, cume nye pelik, in my course, pure maths, why have to selitkan the accounting and costing subj.. even my lecturer pon pelik. she even thought that we are in industrial maths yet tetibe ade akaun lak.. hmm.. but anyway, i think i tak pnah kot whine about the need to study cume whine bile terlalu banyak tutorials and bile blaja tak paham.. itu je.. hehe..
but whining to break the fast? neva! ramadhan is the bulan yg mmg i tunggu sgt2.. 🙂

Any similar examples yea?.. ada, kind of. Nampak orang Melayu beli 4 digit numbers, like what I wrote in my entry “Islam dan Judi”. Kot ye pun bulan pose ni berenti2 laa… hampes.

What I do to stop thinking of breaking fast… em.. saya pernah mendaki gunung (Bukit Larut) sejauh 2km pada suatu hari saya berpuasa.

    Automatic jadi kuat semula… 🙂

ara – hehe kena buat pengumuman ni, utk melamar kena berpuasa 🙂 tapi bagus jugak jadikan tu sebagai criteria. believe me, susah sgt nak cari org yg lepas kahwin akan berubah. ada.. tapi susah

betul jugak apa yg ara cakap tu, saudara baru lebih gigih menunaikan puasa dari org yg dilahirkan islam. rasanya mmg tu la hakikat skrg. kita dilahirkan islam… tapi utk org yg memeluk islam, dia anggap islam tu sebagai harta dia yg paling bernilai. sebab itu yg dia cari dari dulu. isk.. banyak nak kena baiki lah diri sendiri ni

pasal minum air tangki tu… heheh agaknya mmg tak pernah pikir, tapi zaman dulu punye air, mmg bersih. konfiden je masa sekolah dulu minum air paip, skrg ni dgn filter tu filter ni… org makin sakit gak 🙂

gina – betul tu… tahan diri dari makan, dgn senangnya. janji takde yg masuk mulut. tapi nak tahan diri dari mengumpat tu hehe, sedar2 dah berbelas2 page terngumpat 🙂 dah nak buka puasa dah hehe

rasanya sirah nabi dan sahabat lah yg terbaik utk jadikan teladan. kena ingat gak cuaca sana mcm mana, dah le perang..

yg peliknya, banding org dulu ngan skrg, kite yg lebih confident masuk syurga.. “nantikan aku dipintu syurga” hehe

diha – yup.. kena divertkan attention dari pikir yg diri tgh puasa. tmpt keje saya tu, kalau time relax.. boleh dgr cengkerik sana sini, kalau time bz tu.. ha tak ingat nak duduk pun 🙂 mmg berkesan!

whining lebih kepada stress relieving. tambah pulak ramai yg whine benda yg sama. terasa la tak berseorangan. 🙂

whining rasanya bukan benda yg salah (kena betulkan post tu nanti), cuma jgn whine utk lari dari tanggungjawab

syahidatul – contoh yg tepat tu… kita pulak yg malu nak lalu depan kedai tu, diorg sket pun tak malu. berapa sen sgt le dapat dari 4D tu, tempat kerja saya sendiri ada org menang 6600-700, siap bangga lagi belanja kengkawan, tak tau ke duit tu haram.

ttg cara syahidatul ingatkan diri sendiri ttg past achievement tu memang cara yg praktikal. nak bandingkan diri dgn para sahabat mmg susah, walaupun sepatutnya mmg dibandingkan.. tapi kalau bandingkan dengan diri sendiri, mmg senang sebab kita tau apa yg kita achieve. kalau dulu boleh, takkan skrg tak boleh.. good method

…to whine a lil bit like, emmm lapanya arinih, I think it’s ok coz it doesn’t mean that you have the intention to eat or break the fast…

But not to grumble that fasting causes you deteriorate in your work, instead that’s the challenge that you have to take…

noushy – exactly my point 🙂 fasting is supposed to be hard. if not, where’s the test right?

Or if they want a break in fasting month, ask a surgeon to take out their testis and put a uterus instead.

    Lol.
