On walking into the factory, the Managing Director noticed a young guy leaning against the wall, doing nothing. He approached the young man and calmly said to him, “How much do you earn?”

The young man was quite amazed that he was asked such a personal question, he replied, none the less, “I earn RM2000 a month, Sir. Why?”

Without answering, the MD took out his wallet and removed RM6000 cash and gave it to the young man and said, “Around here I pay people for working, not for standing around looking pretty! Here is your 3 months salary, now GET OUT and don’t come back”.

The young man turned around and was quickly out of sight.

Noticing a few onlookers, the MD said in a very upset manner, “And that applies for everybody in this company!!”.

He approached one of the onlookers and asked him, “Who’s the young man that I just fired?”

He replied “He was the pizza delivery man, Sir…!!”

/end story

Lesson learnt

  • Know your staff, You might save yourself three months of their salary
  • But for an MD, it is impossible to recognize all the staff, So, do ask for details before making any decision.

One of my job is giving out salary to the workers in the mill. For your information, the salary was given cash, and it is very important for me to know the workers by face. Hm during my early days here when I just got transfered from Johor, I don’t recognize any of the workers. But I have to recognize each of them ASAP or I may wrongly give the salary to someone else. So what I did, is to call the Union Leader there and let him introduce the workers to me. I will take my time chat a bit with each of them, trying conciously to repeat their name throughout the 15 second conversation. Then for the rest of the week, when ever I go down to the mill, I will greet each of them by name. Guess what.. I remember all 80 plus workers name in 2 weeks 🙂

People like it when you call them by name. hm do you guys have any other tips I can use to remember the name?

Open Your mouth.. And Say Wahhhhh

Just a few days back I read in The Star about the newest scientific finding about yawning. I tried to find the source in thestar online but to no avail. So I checked the google and this is apparently where the news come from. Click Here.

Just to summarize – Previously we thought that yawning is a sign of sleepiness. Then there’s that theory that yawning is supposed to supply us with extra volume of oxygen to be supplied to the brain, making us more awake. The new finding however said that yawning is actually meant to cool down the brain temperature for it to be awake.

Now why do I find this interesting? Because finally the biggest mystery in my life was explained which is why yawning is contagious. You do realize that, when ever another person yawn, it is almost surely we will yawn anytime soon. I’ve been wondering for so long already. According to the study, contagious yawn maybe evolved to help groups remain vigilant against danger, for example taking guard duty at night time. (Just want to share with you)

The funny thing is…. human have been around for what? thousands of years? and we still haven’t figure out why we yawn. Theories arised but they are constantly challenged and corrected. We just have no idea.

In the end, it is proven that yawning is for our own good. It has always been. Maybe… just maybe, we should always think positive to those thing that we don’t understand (yet) and beyond our control such as nightmare, menopause (not that I have one :p) etc.

Amazingly they researched yawning… I wonder what else we should research on?

————— Personal Note ————————–
A friend of mine actually taught me to yawn everytime my lense is dry. This was when I started to use lense way years before. It actually work. Whenever I stuck in a heavily-air-conditioned mall, my eyes will get dry. That’s how I solved that problem. So if you see a handsome man walking in a shopping mall yawning all the time, it is very high possibility that it’s me. So be nice hehe 🙂

The day after tomorrow is 07/07/07 which only happen once in a hundred year. Around the globe people are getting married that day assuming luck which come with the number will have some effect on their marriage.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as lucky number. Remember when we were in primary school? The teacher introduce number with those “biji saga”. The number 3 is just the addition of three “biji saga”. In short, all numbers are related and are meaningless otherwise. 3 will never exist if there are no number 2 and number 1. Hopefully you can understand me up to here. If all are related then obviously all number should have equal luckiness and importance

So you may say, “let it be lah, for fun only”. The problem arise especially for us muslim. Let me give you an example to illustrate. If tomorrow I decide to enter a competition advertised in the newspaper on page 7 and I somehow win the contest and received RM7000 cash prize. What do you think the first thing that will come up to my mind? Obviously I will assume the luck in number 7 is the reason I win. This is where it’s dangerous because this is a clear case of “syirik”. What ever happens are all by the Will of Allah.

Non-religiously, believing in number had also affected other area. For example, in Japan, they actually build buildings with no level 13 because of the fear of it. Can you believe that they even concreted the whole level. This is clearly not a wise decision (financially)

However some of the couple who get married tomorrow may do so not because of the luck but to help the couple expecially the man to remember their anniversary later on. Man does have the tendency to forget anniversary. I’m not sure whether it’s biological or not but do give us a chance kay eheh 🙂

————— Personal Note ————————–
I don’t believe in lucky numbers or date. But I do believe I am lucky enough to be born on my birthday. It’s 25th December…. Lucky not because it’s christmas but because every year I can have the day all to myself without having to work.Anybody else have stories related to number that can be shared? Perhaps being born on 29th February. For him / her birthday is only every 4 years 🙂

Hi guys… One of my good friend Pawana Malam had raised one question I find interesting. First I thank her for the comment, as it will help me to further improve the blog. Thanks a million.

If you don’t mind, please advise me on your preference between the two, which one you prefer?

Quoting the conversation – Pawana Malam :

hello banji,
eemmm, if u write less, to me, the excitement will deteriorate too…

Banji :

Pawana Malam – Finally someone asked. Thank you for that… 🙂 I understand what you trying to highlight. It concern me too. But I did it actually intentionally. As you can see, the topic here sometimes are quite heavy. So I am actually giving some space to maybe digest or at least review some topics.

So my question to fellow friends… which would you prefer? Everyday with one discussable topic or my current style of posting (which is giving some space to breath, review and maybe come up with a few brilliant ideas to share).

/end quote

Seriously I have no problem with either one as I love writing very much.. 🙂 please advise.
