Summary – Identifying the productivity layers of the mind

I just reached home after a 4-hour drive to Kuala Lumpur to bring my mother over. She has an appointment with the doctors here tomorrow. So tired.. I have a question though, and I’m going to make it short (since I’m writing this with my left eye sleeping)

Is it me, or does everyone’s mind wander off at the wildest form during driving. When I am driving, I am in full control of the car, identifying dangers ahead, abiding with the traffic law (almost all of them hehe). In fact anyone seeing me drive will think that I am a very focus driver.

The truth is, my mind is doing other thing as well, Most often I’m processing blog’s future article. This 4-hour drive itself resulted in about 6-7 interesting topics, and countless dull topics 🙂

So the question – why do you think our mind is very productive when driving

I have a theory

As we all know, the mind has so many layers. It’s just like we surf multiple website in the same time. We open a lot of browser. One for each site.

The mind is very similar to that. There will always be that layer of background music. I know you are hearing it this very moment, am I right? There will be another that possibly is designing a new tagline for the blog. Etc.

So what’s can you possibly benefit from this theory?

Aha! I theorize, that there will always be one layer which is the catalyst for your whole creativity and productivity. The thing you do that will help in promoting creativity. Some people write blog entries while finger-drumming unknown song, some while listening to songs and some like me, while driving.

For the finger-drumming guys, there will keep doing that when they are stuck or run out of an idea, not long after, they usually will be back in business.

Identify which is your productivity layer… and you will know exactly how to extract ideas from your infinite pool of creativity.

Disclaimer – Driving is very dangerous if you are not alert or focus. I’m not by any means promoting daydreaming while driving.

– I wonder –
What do you usually do when you are squeezing ideas from your head? What’s you productivity layer?

My mother’s BP is now at 130/90. However I bet when she sees the doctor tomorrow, it will be recorded higher. She’s so nervous seeing doctors.

🙂 I really am tired, but somehow writing this post.. I just couldn’t stop until I am satisfied with it. I’m loving blogging more and more each day. Hopefully you are happy reading as I am writing them

Eye

Summary – Everyone has their own way of seeing thing

Life sure is beautiful, when you see it like that right? Only… most of the time beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, Simply means, every people has a different definition of beauty. I’m sure you remember this classic story I’m about to rewrite 🙂

There was once a father, and son and a donkey. They were walking in the desert to go back to their home. The son was on the donkey and the father was walking.

They reached Village A. The villagers there looked at them and said, “That son is very inconsiderate, how could he ride comfortably on the donkey while his old father walks”. Hearing this, the father exchange place with his son, He was now on the donkey while the son was walking.

They reached village B. The villagers there looked at them and said, “That father sure is cruel. He make the son walks while he ride the donkey.” Hearing this, the father get off the donkey, and walk along side his son.

They reached village C. The villages there looked at them and laughingly said, “Those people are stupid. They have a donkey, and still they want to walk in this hot sun.” Again, hearing this, the two decided to both ride the donkey.

They reached village D. The villagers there looked at them and said, “Look at that, the two people are torturing the donkey. Poor donkey”

So the father said, “Come son, let’s carry the donkey instead”

/end story

Hehe I make that last one up. This is a very popular story. And hopefully you can see the message in it.

People will talk. There’s nothing we can do about it. There’s no way we can satisfy everyone. So what we can do, is to make sure we know what it is we are doing or what we stands for and hold on to that.

People can say you are beautiful, or you are ugly. But the most important thing is whether you think you are beautiful or ugly. As simple as that.

On an unrelated matter, I had brought the mrs for a baby scan the other day. And I saw the baby for the first time, It was so exciting! 🙂 even though I’m not so sure what I saw from the scan but I definitely saw fingers hehe. According to the doctor, most probably it will be a baby girl. 🙂 YEY!!! It is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Any suggestion for a baby girl name? (Serious question)

Pencil Arl

Summary – How to see beauty in things

Yesterday, Ms aRa had shared with us how beautiful animals are, even when they are just drawing

Believe me, when I tell you that, not many people can see the beauty in them. In fact everything there is in life is beautiful. We just need to know how to see things.

Let’s take a pencil for example… How do you see a pencil? This is what I think when I see a pencil. (Most of the time)

1) What it’s used for?
Writing.. with writing comes reading which according to Islam is the foundation of all knowledge. (Remember Iqra’?)

2) How it was made?
Apparently some wood, and carbon. which I read somewhere, that carbon is one of the most basic element found in everything. hm the pencil and I may be not that different after all

3) What will its future be like?
It will get shorter and shorter.. and when it’s no more useful, it will be thrown away. Suddenly I remember the autobiography essay written in Primary School. “Saya Sebatang Pensel”. I’m sure you too must have written the essay.

Life is also like that, it will not get any longer, and with time… it will be end. When the pencil are thrown away, nobody remembers it.

4) Why is it straight?
Only the pencil makers knows exactly why, but we can only assume that straight pencil will be easier to use. The same goes to our life.. Only our creator knows our true purpose, and the reason we are what we are. The pencil will never know its purpose if he asked me, since I am not its maker.

5) What inspire the first pencil maker to make pencils?
Maybe first they used charcoal, and when it is too hot, they wrap it with leaves and wood. I don’t know. but it is always inspiring knowing how people were inspired.

/end list

I can write endlessly, (near endlessly) about pencils. And what other things we can relate to it. This is in my opinion, the best way to view things. Not just by looking at the pencil and only saying, “that is a pencil”.

We need to go beyond our sight, and see the beauty of the pencil. And if you notice, almost everytime, it will come back to Allah, our creator. Which is exactly why, He said “To know Allah is to study His creation”

– I wonder –
Anything else you can add about pencils?

——— Personal Note ———–
“Saya sebatang pensel” (I’m a pencil) is somehow the most popular essay to be written when I was 12. At the time, an essay was supposed to be 80 words minimum. And it was then very hard to comply to that.

I’m not sure what can I wrote now in 80 words hehe

face

Summary – Need to learn how to describe faces

The other day, I posted an article on ways to know yourself by asking questions. One of which is to close your eyes and describe your physical appearance verbally, like straight hair, brown eyes etc.

This question is quite interesting for me, because I don’t think we are good at describing people’s appearance.

A quick test… imagine your mother or father. Try to give 10 points describing her/his physical appearance. If you can do that… I salute you, you are blessed with articulate words, rich vocabulary and photographic memory. 🙂

It is my opinion, that we must try to sharpen this skill. What if, a person come and rob you. You can see his face and when you report to the police later on, can you describe the robber’s face? Whether he is an oval shaped or square shaped face? What’s the height? Weight? etc

Robbery and crime happened all the time, and the possibility that we will face one is very likely. So why not we start practising this skill. Here’s some tips I came up that may help kickstart the program.

1) Learn the vocabulary and of course how it actually look like.

2) Know what’s your height and look at yourself in the mirror. Whenever you are walking and you see someone with the same height, just guess their height and weight based on your height and weight. Practice with some friends. Even though I doubt no girls will ever disclose the two figure… 🙂

3) This third tips will require a lot of practice. Have a glimpse of a person for about 2 seconds and look away. now describe him. This will in time enhance your photographic memory. When you are more skilled with this, try to remember numbers or words at first glimpse.

4) The last thing you should learn, is how to remember voice. The robber may speak to you. And there may a time when all the police will need is for you to recognise the voice again. If you didn’t have any practice, believe me… all voice will be heard the same.

Let’s try this, kay… We may need it later on.

– I wonder –
Any other tips you might want to share?

———– Personal Note ————-
Talking about faces, I wonder how my baby will look like when he/she is born? Is it true that first born always look like the father? I looked exactly like my father :)By the way… yesterday, I felt the baby kicking for the first time 🙂 So excited!! Even though I’m not sure whether it is kicking or punching or just plain head banging heheh
