Summary – Be brave to change

As everyone would have known, today is Awal Muharam. A new year in the Islamic calendar. I’m very sure most blog will blog about it anyway. There are so many things we can talk about to appreciate and learn from the event. We can talk about how the Prophet Muhammad had taken the journey to Madinah, and how it translate in our life as a new beginning of our life. Believe me.. there’s so many lesson we can learnt from it.

One other thing we can learn from the great event is to be brave making changes.

I think most of us will agree that making changes is one of the hardest thing to do. We are comfortable with our current practice, and even though there are problems, we are more afraid of the problem that may arise after we make the change. A little abstract?

For example, Ali is working with an Oil & Gas company, he is however major in Computer Engineering. He is not happy with his work but at least the salary is paying his bills. Then a computer company offered him a job, will he make the change. A logical answer would be yes.. But, Ali will have a dilemma to choose from his dream or his comfortability.

If he choose the company, who knows he will end up with very low benefit and more works. But it will be a dream come true. If he choose to stay with his current company, he will have his stability but he’s not enjoying his work.

Sometimes in life, we will have to be brave to change. I’m not saying we should all quit our job and hunt for our dream. Maybe instead of Roti canai every morning, we can try half boiled egg. We may not be full, but it may be a healthier choice.

In short… when you are stuck with choice A and choice B. And you know for sure that choice B is better in every aspect. And the one thing that holding you back is because you are more comfortable with A, Choose B.

Life is all about making decision, there are no right and wrong decision, only shorter or longer route to achieve your aim.

– I wonder –
Have you ever made a difficult choice in life?

————- Personal Note ————
I wrote this dedicated especially for me. I like being comfortable with my life. If I was at a restaurant, the chances that I order iced Milo is almost 100%.

Starting this blog is actually a very big thing for me. It’s my way of trying to change. If not.. isn’t it more easy just to read blogs 🙂

Happy new year everyone!

Summary – Wandering Mind In Nilai 3

Today is my off day. Yes.. Friday. You may wonder why it’s Friday and not Sunday. Well, I sort of in charge of the maintenance in the mill and unfortunately Sunday is the only day in the week to do maintenance work. So they changed my off day to Friday.

Hm actually I started off this entry with the intention of telling you how exhausted I am. I just came back from Nilai 3. “Somebody” in my family is going to get married this coming Chinese New Year, and the mother insist me to bring her there for some shopping therapy heheh.

I don’t know shopping have therapy effect.. do you?

Anyway.. everything ends well. Bought some items for the wedding, and bought dinner there. Being the only driver I am very tired right now… So I’m going to bed now

But first here are some interesting thing I observed in Nilai 3

  • The shop is very well organized. If you aim for a wedding shop, And you go into one, I assure you there will always be another wedding shop within visible range. So you end up walking to that shop, then another shop and then another shop.. (All shop will be accessible)
  • Then when you are tired from all that walking, your standard can sometime drop. If for example, you are looking for a red curtain… The first few stores, you will insist on that color, nothing less. But after you have make a “tawaf” (go around the block) you may be content with some reddish curtain, just to get it over with 🙂 (In the end… more option and thus more business)
  • I’m not sure why.. but there will always be one shop that is selling the cheapest price. The thing is… we never can guess the pattern. So that’s why people will jump from shop to shop searching until they have to make that final jump to an “ice kacang” stall.
  • There is one shop where the salesperson is very friendly. Even though we had made it clear we are not buying anything from the shop, he still help us to figure out how many meter of cloth we actually need, and some consultation on the design. We named the shop “Kedai Pandai Kira”. Why? Because if we can’t find what we want from elsewhere, that shop will be our first place to go back to. (See… you help people, people will help you)
  • I used to wonder, why when there is one shop selling cloth, all the shops there will be selling cloth. I thought that was just foolish. But then it struck me, the people who go there to buy cloth, will not go elsewhere. They will browse around that place because they will be able to find what they want with very less energy spent walking. The market is there.. all they need to do now is to effectively promote it and improve the service. Brilliant.
  • There is one shop actually offer free cold water for people walking by. No obligation… The weather is hot, so people window shopping will start looking for water instead. Offering free water will get the traffic drop by and maybe sell a few items.

There… Now I’m going to bed, Any other marketing / promotion tips you can think of?

topple lorry

Summary – The 5 Factors To Success

Last week, there was an accident happened just outside my mill. Luckily nobody’s injured. The lorry was bringing out soil from the construction project inside my mill out. When it was time to unload all the soil, the lorry toppled. Upon checking, we concluded that the accident was merely caused by the wrong spot chosen. The driver chosed softer soil and thus toppled

“Sekian dulu, berita jam 3 pagi” hehe.

For things to happen or succeed in our life, 5 factors must be available. If one of them is not considered, the whole project will be uselessly a failure.

Once you read this, I bet you will say… that this is all last year’s story. We all already know this. But we often forget about these factors and then wonder why everything we work in our life is a failure. These are the 5 factors of success

1) Factor 1 – Person In Charge
In anything, there must always be a person in charge. The mistake we did is sometimes there are no person in charge or just too many people in charge. At all time, there must be only one person in charge. Other people can be placed under that one person answering to that one person.

That is why, even if the company has a lot of directors, they still appoint one person to be the CEO. This person will be the one who will push the project to success. In my specific case, the person is the driver.

2) Factor 2 – Tools
Tools can be in many forms. For a workshop foreman, his tools are the spannar and plyer. For a CEO, his tools are the money and power. Without tools, nobody can do a good job.

The tools for this unfortunate driver is the lorry. He will just be a man if there is no lorry to drive. 🙂

3) Factor 3 – Knowhow / Skills
The driver must actually know how to drive for him to be a driver. Anybody can claim he is the CEO of a company, but without the knowledge and skill to manage a company, the company is doomed to fail.

Unfortunately for us, some businessmen that I know lack the skills on how to do business. Sometimes they acted like we are owing money from them. Don’t they know that without customers, their business will go down the drain?

4) Factor 4 – ?
Hm I’m going to continue this entry tomorrow, Can you guess what’s the fourth factor is? Let’s hear your guess 🙂

————- Personal Note ——————
I believe most of us have had experience with bad businessman. The most recent one I had was with a food hawker. I frequent his stall (during my bachelor time) because the food was good. I usually will take the same items every day, so I sort of know that my breakfast will be RM1.5 every day. So one day, I was packing my food as usual, when I can see the boss of the stall come right at me, and ask her worker what’s the price of my food, The worker said, RM1.50. and then she took my food and check herself, and said this should be RM2.00.

Now, I know she had every right to do that. but, I’m a regular customer everyday at the stall. And for her to do that, really annoy me. Why can’t she just call the worker after I leave and told her to raise the price starting tomrrow, or just give me the discount..

She just lose one regular customer from that day on.

Camping

Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson go on a camping trip. After a good dinner and a bottle of wine, they retire for the night, and go to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes up and nudges his faithful friend. “Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.”

“I see millions and millions of stars, Holmes” replies Watson. “And what do you deduce from that?” Watson ponders for a minute.

“Well, astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful, and that we are a small and insignificant part of the universe. What does it tell you, Holmes?”

Holmes is silent for a moment. “Watson, you idiot!” he says. “Someone has stolen our tent!”

/end

🙂 Lesson learnt – The answer to most question in life is often not that complicated.

Question
1) Do I love him/her? – yes/no
2) How to go to work early tomorrow? – Sleep earlier
3) What to do to get promotion? – Work harder
4) Who is that guy with my girlfriend? – Ask him

Of course, some answers deserve every consideration. We must consider every factors before making a decision. I am all for that, but believe me when I say that most of the time, we actually already know the answer to it. And it is just that simple..

The problem is when we want to figure out any other way to get what we want. In short, we want an answer that we like or sometimes, we just want to complicate things for fun 🙂

Any other questions you might know that we often complicated their answers? 🙂

Enjoy your weekend dear friends… I apparently is now having headache. Hopefully tomorrow, with some sleep it’ll get better.
