Summary – 7 things to do after you wake up that will guarantee you a good day

Yesterday, I proposed that small things in life is usually as important as the big things. How about joining me in this little experiment of mine. Try to do all these small steps immediately after you wake up.. and let’s see whether it has any positive effect on your life.

1) Smile after you wake up (10 seconds)
Eventhough you are still in sleepy land, let’s have that smile, weak smile is usually the most genuine 🙂

2) Start the day like children (5 seconds)
Children always asked this, “What day is today?”. They always start their day afresh. Say this out loud – “Today is a brand new day.. Can’t wait to explore it”

3) Use your senses consciously (30 seconds)
Look around your bedroom, Hear the sound of morning, and Smell the fresh air.. Be thankful you still have your tools to enjoy life.

4) Look at your loved ones (15 seconds)
Take that photo you placed besides your bed. The photo of the one person you love. Feel that emotion in your heart while looking at the photo. If you have your wife/husband still sleeping.. there’s no need for the photo, unless of course you love someone else :p

5) Take your “Funny Moment Notepad” (30 seconds)
This notebook should contain your most funniest / embarassing moment. Write things that you find funny in it. And every morning, just have a look through it, and if you can, laugh along.. okay, a giggle might suffice 🙂

6) Stretch (1 minute 30 seconds)
If you don’t appreciate your body, who will. It only take 1 and a half minute

7) Sing and dance (4 minutes)
You should have a favorite song. Now while you are going to shower, hum that song, or even better play that song on your speaker and sing along. Dancing to the song is a must (Remember : just one song)

/end list

The whole 7 steps only need 7 minutes of your time. However I seriously think that by doing all 7, you will now have started your day beautifully.

If you still didn’t feel good, after all that.. please go to a nearby clinic. I believe you are down with fever.

– I wonder –
Any other small things you did after you wake up that usually brings up your happy mood?

————- Personal Note ————–
I sometimes wake up quite late, and when that happens, it will be rush here and rush there. Things will usually just get messier by the hour with fluctuating mood or problematic day at the mill.

However, if I wake up early, and I have time to do many things like walking casually to the kitchen for my morning drink, or singing during shower.. be prepared for a very happy banji that day 🙂

Kindergarten1

Kindergarten2

Summary – The small things matter

I started my day yesterday lazily. Very tyical routine, when suddenly a woman stopped me while I was riding my motorcycle to work. She is the teacher of the local kindergarten here.

Not that she is interested to know me, she actually wanted to tell me that there is a breaking and entering at the kindergarten last night.

I was shocked. What could the culprit possibly assume to find in a kindergarten? Money? Computer? guess what, the only thing missing were the stationery of the children – pencils, eraser, color pencils etc.. I’m not even sure if they can make money from that.

Another guess would be that they just feel like terrorizing someplace. And the kindergarten is unfortunately that someplace for the night. Can you believe this… people damaging other’s property simply because they feel like terrorizing?

Believe me, things will only get worse. The cuplrit possibly will upgrade their vandalism to other object, house or vehicles maybe.. and later on maybe on people and hence the raping or the mugging.

Now, we can’t change other people. But we can change ourselves. Make a conscious decision to avoid doing anything immoral, however little it is. All things bad started that way. An example, You make a habit of throwing rubbish everywhere. Soon, you will start thinking that the rubbish bin is of no use. It is better used as a mean of communication, and so you use that talent of yours to draw cryptic messages on the bin.

After a while, it seems that the cryptic message is just too cryptic, nobody understands it. So you changed them to a more familiar language, insult or cursing words.

That will lead to an angrier you, always cursing and swearing, and the thing you are most angry about is the rubbish bin. So you vandalise it, thinking that you are just making a good use to an unused bin.

You now eyed at other things… hm that kindergarten look interesting to vandalize, nobody will be harm, right?

/end example

It ALWAYs start with the most ridiculously small thing. What we can do is to stop right there. Stop throwing rubbish everywhere, Flush your toilet after use, Say thank you to the waitress attending to you etc.

It starts here

– I wonder –
What other small habits can we start right now?

Summary – Identifying the productivity layers of the mind

I just reached home after a 4-hour drive to Kuala Lumpur to bring my mother over. She has an appointment with the doctors here tomorrow. So tired.. I have a question though, and I’m going to make it short (since I’m writing this with my left eye sleeping)

Is it me, or does everyone’s mind wander off at the wildest form during driving. When I am driving, I am in full control of the car, identifying dangers ahead, abiding with the traffic law (almost all of them hehe). In fact anyone seeing me drive will think that I am a very focus driver.

The truth is, my mind is doing other thing as well, Most often I’m processing blog’s future article. This 4-hour drive itself resulted in about 6-7 interesting topics, and countless dull topics 🙂

So the question – why do you think our mind is very productive when driving

I have a theory

As we all know, the mind has so many layers. It’s just like we surf multiple website in the same time. We open a lot of browser. One for each site.

The mind is very similar to that. There will always be that layer of background music. I know you are hearing it this very moment, am I right? There will be another that possibly is designing a new tagline for the blog. Etc.

So what’s can you possibly benefit from this theory?

Aha! I theorize, that there will always be one layer which is the catalyst for your whole creativity and productivity. The thing you do that will help in promoting creativity. Some people write blog entries while finger-drumming unknown song, some while listening to songs and some like me, while driving.

For the finger-drumming guys, there will keep doing that when they are stuck or run out of an idea, not long after, they usually will be back in business.

Identify which is your productivity layer… and you will know exactly how to extract ideas from your infinite pool of creativity.

Disclaimer – Driving is very dangerous if you are not alert or focus. I’m not by any means promoting daydreaming while driving.

– I wonder –
What do you usually do when you are squeezing ideas from your head? What’s you productivity layer?

————- Personal Note ————–
My mother’s BP is now at 130/90. However I bet when she sees the doctor tomorrow, it will be recorded higher. She’s so nervous seeing doctors.

🙂 I really am tired, but somehow writing this post.. I just couldn’t stop until I am satisfied with it. I’m loving blogging more and more each day. Hopefully you are happy reading as I am writing them

Pacman

Summary – 4 Lesson learnt from Pacman

I played a classic game of PACMAN today. Can I assume you are familiar with the game. It is a very complex (NOT) game of run and eat. I’m not even sure we are allowed to eat while running.

That is a very bad example and lesson to follow from the game. However there are some others that maybe useful to us. Lessons like –

1) Pacman’s mission are only two; to eat all the white dots and avoiding the chasing ghost. The same goes to us. In life there are generally only two ways to motivate people. The old stick and carrot. The bad things that may happen to us if we didn’t do, and the good things that happen if we did do.

So if you are searching for motivation, those two are definitely the first place to look for.

2) Running from the ghost is important, but the most important is to finish up the white dots. If not, pacman will only be running round and round endlessly.

We have a lot of goals in life, most of them are important. But there will always be one that is the most important. Identify this, and we will complete our life’s mission

3) Pacman is a very easy game. You should be able to remember the steps after a few try. And after a while, most probably you will be able to finish the game just by following your steps.

Some things in life, and I have to stress the word “SOME”, are very repetitive. After a while, you should be able to know the steps and whenever you meet the same condition, you will know what to do instantly.

Typical examples are like, how to do your job, or which attitude that you have which is not likable by people etc

4) Pacman is just a dot with a mouth, because that’s what he’s supposed to do, eat the white dot. The ghosts are given scary clothes and a pair of eye, because they need to follow pacman and scare him.

What we were given (the knowledge, experience, friends, jobs, whatever) are there for a reason. They are our assets. And assets must be cherished and used properly. How to use it properly.. that would be the one of the biggest question in life.

– I wonder –
I’m sure you played some computer games. Any lesson learnt from them?

————- Personal Note ———–
I used to be addicted to games. But I’m not into those first person game, (counterstrike etc). They make me dizzy. I prefer the adventure and RPG type :). One of my favorite all time game would be Planescape TormentAn RPG/adventure game about an immortal who had to find his identity and the true reason why he was being made an immortal

What’s your favorite computer game?
