Summary – 10 keywords in your pocket

I’m sure we must all familiar with the concept of Seiton already. I have an idea though.. how about if we branch the idea of Seiton to other things in life.. Non-material things in life?

So how exactly do we apply Seiton to other things in life? One thing come up to mind…

There will be time when you are walking along a very nice guy/girl and you were talking to each other. Suddenly, there’s that silence. Your mind goes blank, No idea whatsoever as to what to say, and from his/her reaction. He/She may be suffering the same thing. Fear not.. You can try this.

Always be prepare with 10 keywords to talk about. Remember, it’s keyword not topics. Examples of keywords are like “Weekend”, “Rambo4”, “LessonInLife.com” 🙂 etc. Anytime you’re stuck use the next one. Lastly, don’t forget to refresh your keywords once you’ve used it. That’s a secret only you need to know 🙂

Also please understand that those keywords are simply for emergency case only. They should not be used one word after another. If you really need to use up all 10, it can only means one of you is really not good with conversation. Improve on that first.

Another methods to use, is maybe redirecting the topic on another subject, like pointing at a mad man preaching to the traffic light. Comment on him instead of asking question to each other. People always love to comment, especially after the appearance of American Idol etc 🙂

I suddenly remembered the classic movie of P.Ramlee (A Malaysian classic movie) where P.Ramlee is dating Saloma, and they had no idea on what to talk about so he asked her about the weather in Africa, some questions about giraffe. Now that is poor keyword choice 🙂

Can i ask, what keyword are you keeping as spare should your conversation freezes?

Summary – Seiton : A place for everything

You are late for work, and to make things worse, you forget where you left your key. You spent about 5 minutes just trying to figure the whereabout. Now that’s 5 minutes a day, in a year you lose about 30 hours just trying to figure out where exactly that damn key.

now imagine you forget other things 🙂

There is one tool established by the Japanese that has been used all over the world. People pay hundreds just to learn about it. Seriously, I’ve seen seminars highlighting the tools as their key points. But fear not my friends, I’m going to spill it here for you guys FOC

The tool is called 5S. I’m very sure most of you are already familiar with it. Basically the 5S consists of Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke. Google them for more info.

But I’m more interested to illustrate how Seiton works. Seiton is roughly translated to Orderliness which basically means “Everything must have its own place”

Look on your table now. There should be a pencil in left side of the table, several pens on the other side. If there is also a cup of evaporated coffee there, you are beyond help 🙂 (kidding). Anyway, abiding to the principle of Seiton means that you should have a proper place for the pencils and pen. All pens must be put in there, no exception. If you have finished your work, put the pen back there. This way, when you’re looking for a pen, you know exactly where to find it. No other place. That’s Seiton.

Apply that to the important things in your life. You can’t categorize everything, if not, your home will be changed immediately to a warehouse. Just the important things like documents, clothes, small change. and maybe remote control.

Remember there are only two rules to Seiton

• One place for it.. No other place
• Put it back there when you’re done

The reason I come up with this topic is because yesterday, I asked the clerk to find me a document. And guess what they took almost 30 minutes just to locate it.

Previously I had advised them on how to be organized particularly document wise, but I think old habit is very hard to die 🙂

Summary – Learn Learn Learn

The next time I attempt this puzzle, I will have a cheat sheet. So guys, can I ask? How many actually finished the puzzle?

Can I interest you with a post I made very early during the startup of this blog. Generally, I proposed that life is actually just like reading a map. There are two things that are important. Where you are now, and where you’re going. You just cannot read the map if you didn’t know the two. For example, you have the map to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. But you have no idea that you are now in London. There’s no way the map will be useful 🙂

Now completing the puzzle, I realized I am partially correct with that statement. Besides the two important data (where are you now, and where are you going). there is another thing we need to know, which is “How to get there”

The same goes to life. We need to know exactly where we are now, where we are heading and how exactly to get there. For example, we know that we have $2000 in our saving account, and we actually want to have $100,000 in 10 years. We then need to know how to reach that goal. And for us to do that, there is no way except through knowledge

I simply love learning new things. Last time, I learnt HTML coding entirely by staying up late in the computer lab, and taking note. I then started a mini project of class homepage. It was so exciting at the time, I kept discussing it with Filantera until very late at night 🙂

The website now is no more 🙂 But that is basically how I started…
